Tension Blanket
Porcelain, cord, and wire, 2025

A kinetic sculpture made from porcelain. Each element is formed through the impression of a clenched fist, giving the tubular forms a sense of fluidity. The wire, while enabling movement, introduces a contrasting angular quality.

The interplay between these elements, combined with the dark glazing and saggar-fired finishes, creates a tactile surface and a visual tension throughout the piece.

The work draws direct inspiration from Crystal Pite’s Flight Pattern. The tension expressed through the ballet’s movement, narrative, and visual language informed the project’s exploration of tension and release.
